The Spark
Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link was officially canceled by Square Enix. That same day, development on Streta: Absent Era began. The gap in the market was real — and so was the vision.
First Steps in the Aether
Five days after the idea was born, the first video of a GPS walking app was captured. Proof of concept. The world of Streta had its first footprint in the real world.
World Bible & Faction Lore Complete
The foundational lore of Streta is locked — the Aether, the rifts, dark matter, Ether, Atlantis, and all six factions. The world has a spine. Now we build the body.
Ryan Walker Joins the Team
After nearly a year of solo development, a professional game developer was brought on board. Ryan Walker took the vision and built the first real prototype — the core gameplay loop, playable and alive.
Joshua Melendez Joins the Team
The sound of Streta found its voice. Joshua Melendez joined the project as composer, bringing the world of the Aether to life through music.
Prototype Milestone 1 — Map & AP Foundation
The GPS map is live on real Mapbox terrain, interaction points are placed in the world, and the AP system is functional. Drifters can open the prototype, see their location, and trigger an encounter using AP.
Prototype Milestone 2 — Combat Core
The combat loop is fully playable in the prototype. Drifters can fight standard enemies and bosses, and the transition between the map and combat scenes works seamlessly. The core of the Aether encounter system is real.
Site Launch & First Content Drop
When the site goes live, so does the content. Gameplay shorts hit TikTok and social channels. The story concept trailer and prototype gameplay footage go live on YouTube and right here on the site.
Pre-Registration Opens
The waitlist goes live the moment the site does. Drifters can pre-register for early access and exclusive in-game rewards from day one. Every signup shapes our launch targets.
Prototype Milestone 3 — Polish, UI & Free Roam
UI polish, state saving, and the Free Roam / GPS toggle are next in the prototype. Drifters will be able to switch between GPS-anchored play and open free roam — and their progress will persist between sessions.
Prototype Milestone 4 — Multiplayer Raids
The final prototype milestone. Two Drifters sync in a shared encounter — the foundation for full multiplayer raids. When this is done, the prototype is complete.
Patreon & Discord Launch
Patreon and Discord are launching first. Patrons get early access to concept art, dev diaries, and exclusive faction content. Discord members get faction channels, direct dev access, and early Aether dispatches.
Kickstarter Launch
After Patreon is live, Kickstarter follows. Help fund the full build — original assets, expanded Aether systems, and the complete Streta universe brought to life.
